My name is Boyko and here I tell stories about some of my travels. Why? I’d like to share these with my friends so this is more like an open online diary. Of course, some might be used as travel advice. Also, I love taking photos and telling stories – I am a certified travel guide, after all.

I was showing people around in Bulgaria’s capital as part of the Free Sofia Tour for nearly three years. This has been an incredible experience, meeting people from more than 150 countries. Hopefully, I would manage to visit that many places (see how many I have done so far). Also, I write about my favorite places in Sofia for the BG edition of the Spotted by Locals travel guides.

I have degrees in IR and EU law and after working as a journalist for a while, I joined the European Parliament’s Info Office in Sofia where I spend around 8 hours a day, doing PR. But enough about work, there’s LinkedIn for that.

Most of my photos are taken with my Fuji x20, except some when I had only my iPhone 5s.

UPDATE 26/05/2016: I just got a brand new Fuji X-T1 with a kit lens Fujinon XF18-55mmF2.8-4 R LM OIS and a tele Fujinon XC 50-230mm f/4.5-6.7 OIS so I am trying to step up my game. Let’s see if you like it. So every photo after May 2016 would probably be take with it.

  1. Interesting. I am also Bulgarian and have been travelling the world for the last 10 years. My target is to visit all 206 countries in the world, until now I visited 91 and hoping to make it 100 before the end of 2016. I plan too to start a blog soon and write about my adventures. By the way, I did similar studies as you- European Studies and International Relations.

    1. Hey Stanislav! Thanks for stopping by 🙂 I would be happy to learn more about your adventures. Have to say I am a bit jealous and I have a lot to catch up. Let me know when you create the blog and let’s keep in touch. Shoot me an email at iwill@beback.bg

Also, you can find some inspiration here, I am currently following Johnny Ward’s quest to visit all 197 countries (countries count vary depending on the perspective). It’s quite the challenge given the remote pacific islands and the many warzones in the world. He has only Oman, Yemen, Saudi and Norway left: http://onestep4ward.com/.

He is not the only one, though: http://mosttraveledpeople.com/Rank-UN.php

Anyway, I don’t think I want to visit ALL countries but I do want to visit most. And most of all – I want to be able to spend a good amount of time in the places I like. Therefore I plan to do some longer travel at the end of this week. But 10 years… Oh, boy 🙂
